You’ll be amazed at how quiet the EF2000iSv2 is! While it does seem like many generators produce more noise than electricity, one of the most striking features of the Yamaha EF2000iSv2 is how quiet it is. This is achieved by using a number of noise reduction technologies to ensure the quietest operation possible. These include a sophisticated sound-blocking design, noise-absorbing glass wool construction, Yamaha’s most technologically sophisticated muffler and vibration-isolating feet, all of which help keep noise levels down even when the unit is under a heavy load.

The EF2000iSv2 employs an auto-decompression system, which reduces compression and makes start-up easier. It also boasts an auto-warm-up function. This increases engine speed during cold starts, producing the power that high-demand appliances need without waiting. It has a convenient, centralized control panel, which allows you to easily access all of the generator’s features. The fuel gauge allows fuel level to be seen at a glance, while Yamaha’s Oil Watch Warning System constantly monitors oil levels and indicates when an oil change is needed. This helps avoid damage to the engine that can result from low oil levels, and lead to costly repairs. The OHV engine comes with a steel camshaft and valve train components, and a cast iron cylinder liner for efficiency, reliability and durability.

The Yamaha EF2000iSv2 generator uses an innovative inverter system with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) (see Generator or Inverter?). This means that the power output by this unit is in the form of pure sine waves, cleaner than even many commercial sources of electricity, and far superior to standard-alternator generators. What this means is that the power provided by the EF2000iSv2 is suitable for today’s delicate electronic devices that rely on microchip circuitry, such as computers, TVs, and many appliances and tools. The unit also features an electrical overload breaker which will prevent damage to the generator should an unexpected overload occur.

The EF2000iSv2 is also exceptionally fuel efficient – in economy mode, it can run continuously for up to 10.5 hours on a single 1.1-gallon tank of fuel. And with Yamaha’s Smart Throttle Load feature, the generator automatically adjusts the engine speed to match the load, resulting in both less noise and greater overall fuel efficiency.

Out of the box, the EF2000iSv2 is rated for 1600 watts (max. 2000 watts) and 13.3 amps (max. 16.7 amps) @ 120V AC. In addition, the unit can output 8A/12V DC with the included cables, ideal for charging car, RV and boat batteries. But that’s not all – using Yamaha’s TwinTech™ technology you can connect two units for 3600 watts, 30 amps of maximum power (requires the TwinTech accessory cable available at extra cost).

With an extra-large comfort-grip handle, the Yamaha EF2000iSv2 is light-weight (it weighs a mere 44 pounds) and compact (just 2.2 cubic feet) which makes it unusually easy to transport and store. It has a fuel petcock that lets you shut off the gas supply to run the carburetor dry when you plan to store it for a while, and helps prevent stale gas problems. The side panels are easily detachable for quick and easy servicing.

Many generators can’t be sold in California because they don’t meet the stringent emissions requirements of the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Yamaha EF2000iSv2 generators have the longest emission engine durability ratings issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board and meets even strict EPA and CARB standards for low emissions.

The Yamaha EF2000iSv2 comes with a 3-year limited factory warranty, and extended protection — Yamaha Extended Service (YES) — is available for an additional 1, 2 or 3 year period.
